Regarded as one of the most important and influential musicians on the Irish / and international jazz scene, saxophonist / flautist and composer Michael Buckley has been playing professionally since a very young age where critics hailed him as a child prodigy. Born in Dublin city in 1971 Michael has performed and toured regularly with giants of the international jazz scene including the legendary Charles Mingus Dynasty big band and septet , Kurt Rosenwinkle, John Abercrombie, Joey Baron, Jason Moran, Edward Simon, Jason Rebello, Jim Black, Lewis Nash, Lee Konitz, George Colman, Badal Roy to name a few.
Michael regularly works on film and television scores collaborated and recordings with more main stream artists such as Glen Hansard ,Paul Brady ,The Corrs, Donovan, the Cranberries, in recent years has become credited as one of Irelands great music producers , recording mixing and mastering numerous best selling records.
Michael has been a key player touring regularly and recording with Irish artist Glen Hansard ,over the recent years writing and arranging horns for live shows and several albums.

With a Masters degree from DIT Michael has been on the faculty of DCU (Dublin City University) Jazz Program which also involves performing and working alongside faculty members from the renowned Berklee College Boston.
