Since 1989, when he performed with the Irish Youth Jazz Orchestra, Dr Linley Hamilton has been a major figure on the Irish jazz scene. He has performed with artists as diverse as Juliet Turner, Paul Brady, Jean Toussaint, Jacqui Dankworth, Maria Tecce, Duke Special, Michael Janisch, Eleanor McEvoy and hosts a jazz show on BBC Radio Ulster.
Linley featured in 2010’s Kind of Blue Sessions tour alongside Michael Janisch, David Lyttle, Alex Mathias and John Leighton, and its 2011 “Star Series” sequel The Chet Baker Story (2011), which Sligo audiences enjoyed at the Model in May 2011.
As well as being a wonderful educator, Linley is a world class trumpet player and one of the biggest personalities you could meet – one reason why he MC’s Sligo Jazz Project’s main festival concerts from year to year as well as tutoring on the summer school.
