Now a quintet, Sligo Jazz Project’s very first “Band-in-Residence” returns a second year running having stolen the show in Sligo last year, as performers and educators. 14-Time Grammy-winning Pat Metheny Group bassist Steve Rodby and drummer extraordinaire Adam Nussbaum join forces with British guitarist Mike Walker, virtuoso pianist Gwilym Simcock and saxophonist Iain Dixon. Individually they have performed with some of the biggest names in the jazz world such as Pat Metheny, Tony Bennett and the Brecker Brothers. Collectively they are “one of the best combos on the planet” according to the Toledo Blade. A 6 day stint at Sligo Jazz Project’s international summer school and festival comes in the middle of their European tour this year. For Gwilym Simcock this follows a world tour as pianist with Pat Metheny’s new group. Expect a tight, passionate, inspirational, virtuosic performance from five wonderful musicians.
